Job Description

Role: Laboratory Technician

Department: Quality Control

Reports to : Laboratory Supervisor

FSLA Status: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Pay Range: $21.00- $24.00/hour

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the overall operations of the lab and to the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Perform laboratory support functions such as:
  • Clean, sterilize, and put away glassware, lab equipment and instruments.
  • Maintain inventory management and equipment calibration.
  • Prepare and weigh product samples.
  • Perform routine testing activities.
  • Adheres to and understands the importance of Good Manufacturing Practices and standard operating procedures, including Good Documentation Practices
  • Attend daily lab meetings on a regular basis and escalate issues/concerns at that forum to the supervisor for further investigation.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze results according to specifications listed in test methods and ability to distinguish when criteria are and/or are not met
  • Document results pertaining to chemical content and other characteristics.
  • Support with professional, proactive communication with cross-functional teams (i.e., providing updates, details regarding testing, workload, scheduling, etc.)
  • Receive Samples and batch records for the Laboratory
  • Record information from the batch record into Lab Scheduling software and assign testing requirements.
  • Create Certificate of Analysis for the lots tested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree(A. A.) preferred, along with six months to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
